Black Handwoven Chanderi Silk Saree
Product Details
Woven in the historic town of Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh, this exquisite handwoven silk saree is a celebration of India's living textile heritage. Crafted by master artisans whose weaving traditions have been passed down through generations, the saree embodies the timeless elegance for which Chanderi is renowned.
The rich midnight-black body is adorned with delicate gold zari leaf motifs that appear to float gracefully across the fabric, while an elegant handwoven zari border lends a subtle radiance to the drape. Lightweight, breathable, and remarkably soft, authentic Chanderi silk is treasured for its sheer texture and graceful fall, making it ideal for both festive occasions and sophisticated evening wear.
Each saree is meticulously woven on traditional looms, requiring days of skilled craftsmanship to create. No two handwoven pieces are exactly alike, making every saree a unique work of art.

The Weaving Technique
Chanderi silk is woven on traditional pit looms using extremely fine, high-twist yarn, giving the fabric its characteristic sheerness, lightness, and natural sheen. The gold zari leaf motifs are introduced as an extra weft, hand-guided into the weave motif by motif using small shuttles, while the border is built up separately using a dobby attachment to create its repeating pattern row by row. Because the yarn is so fine, weavers must work with great precision, and a single saree can take several days to complete on the loom.
