The Weaving Technique
Banarasi Moonga silk is handwoven from naturally textured wild silk yarn prized for its soft, organic sheen. The floral butis and grand pallu are formed with fine zari supplementary wefts, while the meenakari accents are introduced colour by colour using separate shuttles, each motif hand-guided into the weave. A single saree takes several days of skilled work on the loom.
